Confident Donegal travel to Clones to meet old rivals Tyrone
Donegal travel to Clones on Sunday next with a place in the Bank of Ireland Ulster Senior Football Championship final up for grabs when they face Tyrone in the provincial semi-final with a throw-in time of 2.15pm. The defeat of arch-rivals Armagh in the previous round with a last-gasp goal by Brendan Devenney set up this intriguing clash with the All-Ireland Champions of 2003 and 2005 as Donegal go in search of their first Ulster Championship title since 1992.
Brian McIver has a few injury worries ahead of the big match with Michael Hegarty and Ciaran Bonner rated as doubtful. Adrian Sweeney and Eamonn McGee are carrying minor knocks but should be okay to take the field of play if required. Tyrone on the other hand have been rocked with a number of injuries and possible suspensions over the past few weeks but should have Sean Cavanagh and Stephen O’Neill who were missing from the Fermanagh quarter-final tie back in their starting line-up. All-in-all it looks like a ding-dong battle on Sunday and hopefully Donegal has that extra bit of appetite for success that will see them through to the Ulster Final on July 15th.

Patsy Brogan Memorial Cup Final Report
St. Nauls 1-18 Naomh Brid 1-08
St. Nauls collected their first Patsy Brogan Memorial Cup after an impressive display on Wednesday evening last at a glorious Tir Conaill Park, winning by ten points over a gallant Naomh Brid side. St. Naul’s were surely deserving winners of this 13-a-side competition, having also disposed of host club Four Masters in the semi-final the previous week.
Naomh Brid got off to a whirlwind start with four points on the scoreboard in the opening ten minutes through Pauric McDaid, Eoin Gorman, David Walsh and Pauric Rooney. St. Naul’s slowly found their feet and opened their account with an excellent goal by Man-of-the-Match, Stephen Griffin. Gavin Maguire was really dominating proceedings at this stage, firing over two fine points to give the Mountcharles lads a lead they wouldn’t relinquish for the rest of the game. Further points from Stephen Griffin (3), Mark Ward (2), Stuart Johnstone and Brian McCabe had St. Nauls 1-09 to 0-06 in front at the break with David Walsh and Garry McCafferty responding for the Ballintra men just before the interval.
Three further points by Griffin and another from McCabe extended the advantage but two points in reply from David Walsh and Pauric McDaid, followed by a penalty from McDaid, gave Naomh Brid a glimmer of hope, reducing the deficit to five points. However trailing 1-13 to 1-08, the spot-kick was to be their last score of the game.
St. Naul’s cruised to victory in the final ten minutes and pegged on five additional points through Alan McGroary and four more from Stephen Griffin who finished with a personal tally of 1-10 in a tremendous individual display.
Mrs. Bridie Brogan then presented the Patsy Brogan Memorial Cup to the winning captain, Vincent Kennedy.
