Club na gCeithre Máistir 75th Anniversary Celebrations

This weekend March 2nd and 3rd will see the first two events to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of Club na gCeithre Máistir planned for the next few months. A special Mass for the deceased members of the Club has been arranged for the St. John Bosco Centre this Friday evening at 8.30 p.m., followed by light refreshments. The 75th Anniversary Banquet then takes place the following night Saturday 3rd March in the Abbey Hotel at 8.00p.m. sharp. Tickets €30.00 are still available and can be purchased from Sean Dunnion (087) 2300735 or Kieran Espey (086) 6048997.
The highlight of Saturday night will certainly be the launch of the photographical history of the club which has been compiled over the past six months. Brochures and a DVD, available on the night, will give a flavour of this historical publication which will be available from club members and on general sale, priced at €15.00, at the end of March.
The Annual Club Awards will also be announced on the night sponsored by Kelco Communications as well as special presentations to the Ladies who won the 2006 Senior Championship for the first time ever - and to Karl Lacey, our Vodafone G.A.A. All Star from last year. The Club would welcome everyone to join in the celebrations and come along to the Special Mass and/or the Anniversary Banquet this weekend.

Donegal Top Div One after great victory over Dubs

Donegal 0-09 Dublin 0-05
Donegal made it three wins on the trot to go top of the NFL Division 1A with a well-deserved four point victory over a lacklustre Dublin side at Fr. Tierney Park, Ballyshannon, on Sunday last.
The homeside began well and a point each from Rory Kavanagh and Brendan Devenney (free) got them up and running, and in front by 0-02 to 0-00 after just seven minutes. That lead was doubled by the 19th minute, thanks to two fine efforts by Ciaran Bonner and Colm McFadden. Dublin created very few chances in the first period but points by Kevin Bonner, Alan Brogan and Darren McGee reduced the deficit at the break to 0-06 to 0-03, Donegal knocking over two late frees in the opening 35 minutes from Brendan Devenney and Colm McFadden.
The third quarter was more of the same with a point from McFadden in the 42nd minute being followed by a punched effort by Devenney, increasing the home side’s advantage. Dublin rallied a bit at the start of the fourth quarter, with points from Kevin Bonner and David O’Callaghan but Johnny McLoone responded with a magnificent 45 into the wind and the game’s last score.
Dublin had a few late chances but tremendous defending by Neil McGee, Barry Dunnion and man-of-the-match Barry Monaghan ensured a comfortable win, to make Donegal the only team unbeaten in Division 1A and still on course for a league semi-final berth.
