Driving force behind the project, Ernan McGettigan, Chairman of the Community Chamber, explained that the Hungarians are always eager to visit this town through a bond established at the time we played hosts to the Special Olympians from Hungary. Since then there has been significant reciprocal visits by both parties. Femine Touch Closes Good luck to our old friend, Paddy Meehan, who has just completed a very successful clearout sale in his premises on Quay Street and has closed down the outlet for the present. The Feminine Touch Boutique, run for many years by Paddys late wife Leah, was long the premier fashion outlet in town. Paddy will now take time to determine what the future of the valuable building, near the town centre, will be. Peadar reveals plans for pier At the February local area meeting in the Public Services Centre Peader Thomas, Area Manager for Roads and Transport, presented plans for the redesign of the Pier area. The project will cost in the region of a €500,000, with the money coming from two sources the pay and display, and development charges. It will be completed over a two year period. The rock-armour which is presently being placed is proving slow as the work depends on tides but it is an excellent job Peader enthused. A railing is to be put in place and a new footpath laid. There will be 85 extra carparking spaces, making in total 224, with eight disabled and two for bus parking. There will be more seating, new bins, extra lighting - and a landscaped area.
