Both teams did extremely well in a very closely fought contest. In the U-15 age group, three teams took part: Donegal Town, Fanad, and Ramelton. In the U-12 finals, there were also three teams: Donegal Town, Fanad and Doe. Donegal Town took on Fanad in the first game and were losing 1-0 when Caoimhe Cox found the net and levelled the score. This put the game into extra time. However, as they were still level at full-time, it took a penalty shoot-out to decide the outcome, with the Donegal Town girls victorious. They met Doe in the final and were beaten 3-0 to take the Silver medal place. The U-15 contest saw a very strong Donegal Town team take on Fanad in the final. The Donegal Girls led with a great goal from Sharon McIntyre. However, Fanad was awarded a penalty and the sides were level at full-time. Extra time was a very competitive battle with no resolution at the final whistle. A penalty shoot-out loomed, and, in a tense and thrilling contest, worthy of any international competition, Fanad took the gold, beating Donegal town 3-2. The Donegal Town girls took the silver medal place. According to their coach, Caroline Walsh, it was a great display of football from every member of the team.
