Senior Championship
St. Naul’s Snatch Draw in Injury Time

Four Masters Senior Team

Four Masters 1-08 St. Naul’s 1-08
Four Masters and neighbours St. Naul’s drew in the first leg, first round, of the senior championship on Saturday evening last in front of a sizeable crowd in wet cold conditions in Tir Chonaill Park. It was a tough entertaining affair, with the Mountcharles men coming back to snatch a draw in injury time, with a pointed free from Seamie Cannon. St Naul’s got off to a great start when a free from Tom Dunleavy was dropped by the Master’s goalkeeper Paul Durcan and the ball was then bundled to the net by Edward Gallagher. The home side hit back immediately - after Joel Carr was taken down in the box, Michael Doherty coolly slotted home the resultant penalty. It was nip and tuck for the remainder of the first half with Michael Doherty adding two frees, Derek McGinty and Karl Lacey scored from play, with St. Nauls replying through Seamie Cannon (2) and Tom Dunleavy to leave the half-time score 1-04 to 1-03 to Four Masters.
The Masters had increased their advantage by the twelfth minute of the second period with two further frees from Doherty - but again St. Nauls came back with points from their midfielders Cookie Meehan and Paul Griffin. Michael Doherty added another free before a point from Barry Dunnion had Four Masters three points ahead with eight minutes to play. However, St. Nauls showed great character and determination and frees from Tom Dunleavy and Seamie Cannon left the bare minimum between the teams going into injury time. Referee Mick McGrath, at this stage, was not endearing himself to the Four Masters supporters with some strange decisions and it was from another free that the equalizing point came from Seamie Cannon. Four Masters will no doubt be the most disappointed with the result as they kicked fourteen wides on the day but it is now set up for an exciting second leg in four weeks time in Mountcharles.

Copany U-12 New Kit

The club would like to thank the Diamond Edge Hairdressers, Castle Centre, Donegal Town for their kind sponsorship of a kit for our U-12 team. The kit was presented at training last Thursday and all squad players were in attendence to try out the new gear. This is a timely boost to the team as the U-12 league commences next week. The club is again sincerely grateful to this local business who has yet again invested money in the youth of the local community. All players are asked to return the favour by getting their hair colours and cuts with Karen and her team of stylists!!!
The Club would also like to thank Gareth Britton of All Sports for his effort in supplying both our recent kits and for sponsoring a football.
The U-14’s had an encouraging win recently over Eany Celtic with goals from Pauric McGroarty and Thomas Gallagher earning a 2-1 win. The seniors completed their league programme for the season at Drumoghill recently and finished in a respecable mid-table position.
The Club would like to congratulate Jason Quigley, who recently won a National boxing title in Dublin. Jason is a versatile sports activist and played on our U-12 team over the last 3 years. Well done Jason and best wishes to Conor and Muriel from the club.
