Terry calls it a day
Terry Woods closed his supermarket on Main Street last Sunday. In business 44 years, he took over the shop on 19th March 1959 following the death of his father, Terry Snr. At that time there was also a cafe upstairs, run by Terrys mum Mary. Terry is married to Maighread and the couple have four children, Daire, Turloch, Blaithin and Ultan. The premises is being taken over by Ciaran Kelly who is moving his phone shop Kelco Communications there. Terry would like to thank his customers for their patronage over the years and apologise to those I fell out with. Also he would like to thanks all the staff who worked with him down through the years - especially present staff Diane Pearson, Michelle McGoldrick and, above all, Margaret McMenamin who has been with him for 25 years. I thank her for her dedication and friendship. Terry would like to wish Ciaran Kelly and Kelco all the best. Waterbus Cheque buys Bed for Donegal Hospital
Billy Bustard of the Donegal Bay Waterbus and Collie McCrea presented a cheque for €3,000 to the Matron of Donegal Hospital for a special electric Hilron Bed. This bed gives the patient extra comfort, enabling them to control their position, for example, to tilt, sit up or raise their feet. Collie McCrea, Billy Bustard and son Leslie, sold tickets at €15 for a special fundraising trip down the bay which included food and drink. Music was provided by Eamonn Brogan and Pat Ward. This raised €2,400. Headers Hairdressers gave €170 raised by a Christmas draw on the night of the opening of their new salon - the balance came from the Waterbus Fund. Billy says he hopes to have another fundraising trip this year to raise money for a second bed. Marie McGarvey, Matron, Donegal Hospital, wishes to thank everybody who played a part in the fundraising and declared that the comfort this bed gives to the patients could not be overstated.
