Tell the Times There are Donegal Times readers spread all over the world. Over and above the 250 copies we ourselves send out twice a month, many more are posted by local people to loved ones abroad. Now, in those far away outposts encircling the globe, there must be papers similar to the Times that contain little items that would be of interest to us here back home. So if youre in Bantry or Beijing, New Ross or New York and you have an item you would like to share, please send it to us. Or if you just want to let us know where your are, what youre doing, about your family - wed love to hear from you, just click on the "contact us" link at the top of the page and sent us an e-mail. Fish Ireland 2002
Ministers Mary Coughlan, Dermot Ahern and Pat the Cope with Pat Keogh, Chief Executive BIM. New Airline to Fly into Sligo and Donegal In a surprising turn, Aer Arann has lost its licence to operate the Sligo and Donegal routes from Dublin and these have been awarded to Euro Celtic Airways. Based in Waterford, the new licensee at present operates only one route, from its home airport to Luton near London. What is surprising about this move is that Euro Celtic have at present no planes capable to landing within the confines of local runways, yet is supposed to take over on July 22nd. However, if the new company does manage to get its act together on time, it will offer two advantages over the previous operator - the new fare is being publicised at €35 one way and there will be two return flights a day, one of these an early morning departure and late evening return. Local Butchers Strike Gold There was double success for Donegal Town when both Walshs of Upper Main Street and McGettigans of the Diamond won Gold at the Ireland National Speciality Meats Competition 2002 sponsored by An Bord Bia. Both the McGettigan and Walsh brothers are extremely proud of their success in this competition as are the people of Donegal to have two such progressive butcher shops in town.
